Summer Social Skills Program Overview
The Summer Social Skills Program 2026 at the Peter Pan Center is designed for children and teens who benefit from real-world social coaching in a relaxed, supportive environment. Our summer social skills programs focus on helping kids build confidence, strengthen friendship skills, and feel more comfortable navigating group situations through meaningful free play and shared experiences.
Programs are offered for children entering Kindergarten through leaving Grade 5. Groups are intentionally kept small (a maximum of 12 participants each week with a 1:4 staff to student ratio) to allow for in-the-moment coaching, modeling, and gentle guidance as social situations naturally arise throughout the morning.
Programs are offered in two locations: Boxborough MA and Pepperell MA. Families may choose the location that works best for them when registering.
Rather than relying on worksheets or scripted lessons, our summer social skills programs emphasize authentic interaction. Children practice skills such as turn-taking, problem-solving, flexibility, emotional regulation, and self-advocacy during outdoor games, cooperative challenges, and unstructured social time. Coaching is provided in real time, helping children reflect, reset, and try again in a supportive way.
The program takes place primarily outdoors, allowing children to move, explore, and engage socially in ways that feel natural and motivating. This environment supports children who learn best through experience and benefit from opportunities to practice social skills in context rather than in a classroom setting.
Families from Boxborough MA and surrounding communities choose the Peter Pan Center for its warm, relationship-based approach and long-standing commitment to helping children feel successful and connected. Full program details, weekly options, tuition, and registration information are available on our official registration page.
Our summer program is designed for children who can participate safely in a small group environment of 8-12 children without dedicated one-to-one support. If you have questions about whether or not the program is a good fit for your child, please feel free to call Donna at 978-413-1965 or email dshea.peterpancenter@gmail.com.
